Try your MDR antibody now

Monosan offers a broad range of MDR antibodies produced in our own laboratories.

Some, 25 years ago, researchers thought, or maybe just hoped for, that with the discovery of Multi Drug Resistance (MDR1) P-glycoprotein they has found the target to eliminate in order to achieve successful chemotherapy treatments.

At this moment we know this is much more complicated, several other molecules, including (closely) related transporter proteins, have been found that may contribute to MDR in tumor cells. MDR caused by ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporter pump molecules will be attributable to the current known molecules. All these transporter molecules can be studied at mRNA level and at protein level, using the Monosan anti-MRP antibodies.

Besides the role of ABC transporter molecules in MDR in cancer it may very well be that important roles of these molecules in other diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, epilepsy and AIDS, will be defined in the near future. The first studies on the significance of ABC transporter molecules in these research fields have already been reported. Tumor cell insensitivity to anticancer drugs frequently appears as MDR, associated with overexpression of one or more of a set of at least 10 different molecules, causing reduced drug levels at the intracellular target sites. They include transmembrane transporter proteins such as P-glycoprotein, MRP1-9 and BCRP (Breast cancer resistance protein).
