New MONOSAN® formats MRPm5 and BXP-53

We are proud to announce two new formats of our multidrug resistance antibodies in our MONOSAN® product range. Both MRPm5 and BXP-53 are now available in 1 ml (100 µg/ml).

Per October 1st, 2012the Department of Pathology of the VU Medical Center handed the production and direct sales of the MDR related antibodies to Sanbio b.v. to supply the products under its MONOSAN® label.

Tumour cell insensitivity to anticancer drugs frequently appears as multidrug resistance (MDR), associated with overexpression of one or more of a set of at least 10 different molecules, causing reduced drug levels at the intracellular target sites. They include transmembrane transporter proteins such as P glycoprotein, MRP1-9 and BCRP. In addition, the lung-resistance protein, recently identified as the major vault protein, has been associated with MDR. The Monosan monoclonal antibodies that specifically recognize most of these proteins, can be used to try to identify their roles in clinical drug resistance, and also explore their occurrence in normal human tissues and physiology.

MRPm5 reacts with an internal epitope of MRP1, a 180-195 kD transmembrane transporter protein overexpressed in various human non-P-glycoprotein MDR tumor cell lines. MRPm5 was raised against a bacterial fusion protein of MRP1, containing amino acids 986-1204 of the protein. MRPm5 does not crossreact with the human MDR1 and MDR3 gene products.

The BXP-53 Mab was selected after immunization with a fusion protein containing the E. coli maltose binding protein and a fragment of the mouse bcrp protein corresponding to amino acids 221-394. BXP-53 reacts with an internal epitope of bcrp, a 70 kD transmembrane half-transporter which is involved in Multidrug resistance. BXP-53 also reacts with the human BCRP molecule.

Both products are available now as 1 ml (100 μg/ml) 0.2 μm filtered antibody solution in PBS, containing 0.02% sodium azide and 0.1% bovine serum albumin.
